Our Healthcare System is not a Dysfunctional System…

Category: Online Wellness Program — paxbeale @ 1:48 pm

“Pax, why isn’t the scientific Online “type” Program common knowledge?”

That is a question I hear all the time.

It’s simple. No one has created a program based on a , like the Online Program: bringing together cardiology, exercise physiology, kinesiology, nutrition, pharmacology, and a programmed type of effort based on psychology…and delivered collectively and concurrently under one “umbrella” for the good of the patient.

The Online Program relies on a synergistic affect: Best described as 1+1=3.

I’ve been in the medical profession for a third of a century, and I’ve never (not once) seen or heard of a meeting, where all these disciplines were brought together under one roof to collectively (and Synergistically) coordinate a program for patients, Never!

The Program reverses that non-functional professional format of only “my profession, or no profession”, which yields sub-par healthcare.

You see our care is not a dysfunctional system.  It’s worse.  It’s a non-system.

Employer Based Wellness Programs Help, but You Still Need Motivation

Category: Online Wellness Program, fitness — John @ 11:36 am

For members of the nation’s workforce, it can be difficult to conjure to hit the gym after putting in a long day’s work.  The convenient temptations of vending machines, takeout lunches and sugary, caffeinated drinks loom within arms reach.

I know personally that the thought of physical activity can be unappealing.  However, when I think of the relief that comes from working out (the mental wind-down, the increased energy, the sense of accomplishment) it motivates me to head to the gym even on my most sluggish days.

For some lucky professionals, it appears as if employer-funded access to and may become a nationwide blooming trend, gaining attention most recently in the town of Jackson, Michigan according to the New York Times article below.

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/01/business/smallbusiness/01HEALTH.html?_r=1&ref=health&oref=slogin

Now isn’t that a refreshing thought?  A mutually beneficial scenario in which productivity increases, company insurance costs potentially decrease and employees gain a better quality of life at no charge.

These proposed incentives provide the framework and resources for betterment.

Unfortunately, employers can’t offer you .  We have a gym here at headquarters. I used it sporadically, until I started myself on the Online Program.  Now I use it every work day.

If you find that you still need an extra push to get yourself on the //self-improvement path, offers a course of action for improving your level, overall and waistline through a comprehensive , work out and lifestyle plan coupled with inspiring and achievable results.

Thoughts on Weight Loss

Category: Online Wellness Program, fitness — paxbeale @ 2:26 pm

Most books with a tough-love message want a true confession out of an overweight person - an admission that the individual is in a denial state and has an inner responsibility for being overweight.  I think that approach is wrong.  I think you have to put planks in a platform for success, and show the practitioner of the denial system how to move forward successfully, once that individual is out from under the spell of the denial system.  However, overweight people must acknowledge the solution starts at home from within themselves, not from an outside cause.  So instead of just beating you “denial system devotees” up, I will show you a practical system to defeat obesity, but damn it, don’t you dare quit on me!  I won’t accept it.  Stick with me and you’ll get the results, I guarantee.

In general, there are two types of lifestyles.  My system is a positive Motivational, lifestyle for success.  Those who are overweight, and don’t want to be, are living the other type - a negative lifestyle destined for failure.  When someone tells a person to pursue a positive lifestyle as an option, there is an assumption that they don’t have a lifestyle.  They do.  It is a lifestyle for failure.  No wonder so many find themselves in a position of a psychological dilemma.  Follow along with me as we lay several more key planks in the platform for the successful solution to the weight problem, and more importantly, the coping with the torment of failure.  Begin a positive lifestyle of quality eating habits, prescription exercise - that’s fun - and add proper scientific nutritional supplements.  There is your foundation.

Remember that if you start wrong, you finish wrong.  If you start right, you have at least a half-assed chance of finishing right.  And I assure you, with effort based on Motivational, Philosophy and serious focus on a positive lifestyle, I will describe in detail in future blogs, weight-loss success for you is a sure thing.

Some Thoughts on Weight Loss

Category: Online Wellness Program, fitness — paxbeale @ 11:33 am

The psychological dilemma of is such a dynamic subject it is worth discussing, even if you are not overweight.  The story is a prime example of the market forces of our capitalistic society becoming so powerful, they subconsciously influence the very basics of our daily lives - in this case, the necessary act of eating.  We can’t seem to turn around without the billion-dollar food industry, not only trying to manipulate us, but actually succeeding to do so many times in an unhealthy direction.  Or does anyone really believe a high-cholesterol, high-fat, fast-food hamburger has merit?

Here’s a choice vignette for you.  I actually sat in the office of a CEO of a California supplement company dedicated to producing and marketing weight-loss products.  The CEO unabashedly said that he didn’t care about the dose of his product, except that it should be relatively low, so the price would be attractive to the buyer.  I asked him what the best dose was to yield successful .  He looked at me as if I didn’t get the message, then replied, “No dose works for .  Weight-loss products have a lifespan of about 24 months, and then the public gets wise that they don’t work.  By ‘don’t work’ I mean they won’t sell, because none of them cause permanent, healthy anyway.  The name of the game is to continually come up with new weight-loss products and start the promotion all over again.”

Furthermore, he acknowledged that he could only fool the public for a couple of years and then he would have to start the cycle all over again with some other song-and-dance involving another weight-loss product.  The company is now out of business, but the CEO will likely surface again.

Now here, laid out for you, are necessary simplistic planks for your platform for .  I have listed them in the order you should address them, because you are wasting your time seeking a positive lifestyle, if you are determined not to put forth effort in the right directions.

  • You understand that some effort is required in an anti-aging, lifestyle.
  • Cope with your denial system by not blaming outside sources for your undesirable weight.
  • Having committed to the above two bullet points, you are now ready to create a positive, rejuvenating lifestyle for long-term weight control success.
  • Recognize that you have choices. You can choose a lifestyle for success, not a lifestyle of failure, as has likely been your modus operandi to date if you are overweight.
  • The lifestyle you choose should be fun.
  • The lifestyle should be easy to implement and to sustain.

There is no need trying to cope with the psychological dilemma of , unless the lifestyle you choose meets the Art of above criteria, and you are ready to make a .

The Trunk Curl

Category: Online Wellness Program, fitness — John @ 3:43 pm

Lot’s of people ask how to get great abs. One of the important aspects of having great “anything” is to exercise it properly.

For your enjoyment, here’s Pax’s descripton of how to do a proper trunk curl, an exercise that targets the upper abdominals.

There is an art to the trunk curl or crunch exercise (frequently, but improperly called a sit-up). You curl your upper torso toward your feet. The full range of motion is only a short distance. You don’t keep the upper body rigid above the hip. It’s a curling action, not a bending from the hip joint. Optionally doing a slightly different curling motion, you can alternately crossover left elbow to right knee and then right elbow to left knee to target your obloquies.

Eating Out and “Eating Clean”

Category: Motivation, Online Wellness Program, fitness, heart health — melissa @ 11:01 am

Here in the Bay Area we have some of the best restaurants in the world. Add this to a hectic schedule, and for most of us, it’s hard to resist the allure of dining out.

In Pax’s Delectable Basic Nutrition Program, Step Three of the Philosophy, he tells us to “eat clean”. Pax reminds us that we don’t need to burden ourselves with the prospect of being “on a diet” for life. Rather, we should educate ourselves on what the food we eat contains. This way, we know how to avoid the bad and seek out the good. After we’ve learned how to do that, we can eat more, not less, because the foods we choose nourish our body, and don’t add unnecessary fat and calories.

This is easy enough when we’re shopping for our own groceries, but how can we make healthy choices when dining at restaurants?

The National Restaurant Association has provided us with a few tips on how to eat clean, even when eating out.

• Even before going out to eat, identify healthier choices at all kinds of restaurants and view corresponding nutrition information at HealthyDiningFinder.com.

• Order salad dressings and other sauces on the side. This way, you have control over how much or how little you add.

• When ordering grilled fish or vegetables, ask that the food either be grilled without butter or oil, or prepared “light,” with little oil or butter.

• When ordering pasta dishes, look for tomato-based sauces rather than cream-based sauces. Tomato-based sauces are much lower in fat and calories. In addition, the tomato sauce (or marinara sauce) can count as a vegetable!

• Drink water, diet soda, or unsweetened tea or coffee instead of regular soda or alcoholic beverages. This will save a lot of calories each day.

• Share a dessert with a friend. Half the dessert equals half the calories.

• Order steamed vegetables as a side dish instead of starch.

• Stop eating when you are full — listen to the cues your body gives you.

• Order sandwiches with mustard rather than mayonnaise or “special sauce.” Mustard adds flavor with virtually no calories.

• Don’t be afraid to ask for special low-calorie or low-fat preparation of a menu item. The restaurant industry is one of hospitality and customer choice. We aim to please.

• Remember, don’t deprive yourself of the foods you love. All foods can fit into a well-balanced diet.

• Take half of your meal home. The second half can serve as a second meal! (Two meals for the price of one: What a deal!)

weight-resistance training at any age?

Category: Online Wellness Program, fitness, heart health — David @ 1:33 pm

I feel like writing a few words about this guy, Pax Beale, who is on the Net with various entries – mostly regarding weight-resistance training, and his success in reversing his heart disease

Around January 2008 I got an email from Pax Beale, President and Founder of Body for the Ages. He was looking for some dynamic website support. We emailed back-and-forth for a bit, and then I was finally introduced to Pax in person. Hearing his deep voice, and knowing that I would be the 5th developer to attempt working on their website was a bit scary! But I can say that after 8 months, I did manage to satisfy some of his online requests!

The more I read about his life story, the more I like him. I think you would admire him as much as I do, if you got to know him. It’s encouraging to know someone could reverse his heart disease by pumping up his muscles with weight-resistance training! As an ageless bodybuilding’s Mr. USA, he dedicated his time to pursuing methods of helping others defeat heart problems. That’s why Pox launched Body For The Ages.

Well, I think that’s enough for today as I have to get ready to go to my weekly soccer game. I will continue on this subject soon, as I have decided to try one of his patented scientific supplements, Cardio MakeOver (Creatine/Pyruvate).

Ciao,
David

Pax Beale: Let’s Attack Heart Disease together

Category: Motivation, Online Wellness Program, fitness, heart health — paxbeale @ 1:33 pm

here.

I am no-nonsense about my passion to work with you as a team. However, my team has no laggards, quitters, or members who believe that “life just happens.”

We believe in the Body for the Ages Wellness Philosophy. Its rewards: a new you, greater self-esteem, and a hell of a lot of fun.

Bet you thought as a bodybuilder, I was going to show men how to put an inch on your arm, or women how to get rid of cellulite.

I want to show you more than that. Together we can change your life. My mission is to attack America’s number one killer: . And I do it through the Philosophy.

But then, there is so much more that comes with it. Learn my protocol, and it can position you to become a millionaire, have success in your field of endeavor (not all life is based on the almighty dollar), to enhance your self-esteem, and/or you can have optimized success, and happiness.

I’m not going to tell you the need to strangle America’s number one killer: . I want to show you how to do it.

Once done, it will affect your entire life. In the process I guarantee you will learn or weight control. I will show you how to get a body of your dreams. You will be exposed to the prospect of a complete, positive, remake of your life, from what you eat, to how you feel when you wake up.

Your life changes and as a by-product, you will reduce or reverse your risks.

It’s all based on the Body for the Ages Wellness Philosophy.

I’ll leave you this week with a true story. My friend Elaine Pedersen was flying to Portland, Oregon, and on the plane she met former football coach John McKay of the University of Southern California. The USC team was to play Oregon that Saturday. Upon departing, Elaine said to coach McKay, “good luck on Saturday.” The coach turned and paused for a moment. He looked at Elaine and said, “I suppose that has something to do with it.”

The moral of the story: having a plan, like the Body for the Ages Wellness Philosophy is what wins football games, not luck. The same applies in life.

Day One: Team Body for the Ages

Category: Motivation, Online Wellness Program, fitness — melissa @ 10:19 am

Work was loong. At five o’clock, with the beginnings of a headache nudging behind my eyes, all I could think about was going home, putting my feet up, and vegging out.

But… I had ’s schedule in front of me. My first, since joining the Body for the Ages Online Wellness Program. It was time to learn what it meant to be a Member of Team .

I checked over the personal email I’d received from Pax, noting how amazingly in-tune he was, regarding my needs. He was warm and encouraging, yet just strict enough to keep me heading for the gym, rather than making a bee-line for home.

Pax had strongly suggested that I print out the personal schedule he’d sent, and bring it with me to the gym, as a guide. “Consistency,” wrote Pax, “is key. You probably wake up at the same time day. You probably eat lunch at the same time every day. It’s important to work out at the same time every day, as well. This way, you train your body, and you “trick” your subconscious into believing that no day is complete without a at its normal time.”

So, with my guide in hand, I entered the Studio. I had no idea what I was doing.

But guess what — I made it through. I followed my schedule. I sweated and breathed and laughed and at one point I had to sit down and rest… (”Baby steps!” Pax had written in his email, advice that echoed in my head as I got ready to begin again.)

Halfway through my , I noticed something wonderful: I could feel my muscles. All of them, it seemed. I was stretching, bending, straining, relaxing muscles that felt like they hadn’t been used in years, and it felt so good to be conscious of my body. Sometimes we forget what a wonderful machine it is.

When I’d finished the , two things struck me:

1. My headache had vanished.

2. Though I’d been dreading visiting the gym, because of my long work day and lack of energy, I was suddenly filled with energy. My visions of going home to vegg out had vanished along with my headache.

I walked out the door, and into the sunshine, wondering what I’d do with the rest of my day.

Diary of a Body for the Ages Team Member

Category: Motivation, Online Wellness Program, fitness — melissa @ 9:59 am

In the past, I saw as a hobby. (A strange, painful activity done by strange people.) I’d see friends head to the gym in the evenings for a , and think, “Run on a treadmill? Lift weights? No thanks. Not for me.”

I’ve lately begun to notice that in this day and age, a “not for me” attitude, when it comes to , leaves you lacking in many areas of life, including job security. With insurance rates rising, companies are beginning to take active measures to insure their employees are -conscious assets to their companies, rather than costly burdens.

So I guess you could say I jumped on the bandwagon out of fear. Once the seed had been planted, though, I began to think more about it. Faced with the opportunity to join the Body for the Ages Online Wellness Program, I asked myself what such an undertaking really meant to me. Well, of course it may seem obvious: a healthier lifestyle… Duh. But I think it’s easy for us to lump the terms “”, “”, and “” into an abstract idea - a chore or an obligation, like when we’re little and we hear “Eat your vegetables” at the dinner table every night.

It’s important, though, to stop and think about how is connected to our life’s most cherished goals. I got out a pen and paper and asked myself what exactly I wanted from the Body for the Ages Wellness Program.

What will you bring me, ? I asked in big letters at the top.

Underneath, I listed:

More energy
A sexy body
The ability to keep up with my children
A long, happy life

I stopped and read over what I’d written. Each item on my list was non-negotiable. Now that my list of wants was there in black and white, staring me in the face, I couldn’t crumple it up. I couldn’t toss it in the trash and say “not for me”, and head home to my couch and a few mindless hours of television, to end my day.

So after work, I headed over to the Body for the Ages Health Center instead…

…Check back next week to hear about Day One on Team .
